Hey. Thanks for being here! I wanted to start writing blogs for multiple reasons, but the main one is to have a new format for me to speak to people like you. I am admittedly not a great writer, but I really enjoy doing it - so bear with me. My goal is to publish one of these every other month, totaling to AT LEAST 6 in 2022. Pretty do-able... I hope. There may be more or less, but these will be a way for you to travel with me, get to know who I am, and learn more about my life!
To start, I am an adventure hungry, food loving, and coffee drinking gal. Traveling to new cities by car, plane, or train gives me a thrill. I have been lucky enough to go to 16/50 states with Arizona or Utah being my favorite. (I'll definitely be writing about that trip!) When traveling to new places, I love finding local restaurants or places to eat that I don't have here in Missouri. For example, the Deck in Tybee Island, Georgia is a must try, and you can't pass through Escalante, Utah without stopping in Esca-latte Restaurant to order the homemade Devil's Garden pizza!
When I am not traveling, I am living in the city I call home: Springfield, MO. I am a full time photographer inside the office of 417 Magazine and outside the office I am a full time entrepreneur and business owner. Working as an editorial photographer, I have had the opportunity to photograph people, places, food, and events. With each magazine I get to try new dishes from local restaurants and meet some amazing people in my area like Ames and Dan Chiles, who are helping save native pollinators all over the nation with their Beestra.
Working in my field is something that I am extremely grateful for and takes most of my time, but outside of 417 Magazine and running this business I have so many other things that bring me joy. I regularly seek new songs to add to my playlists, new recipes to try, and am probably chasing a sunset or two. I also enjoy loads of various art forms. For as long as I can remember, I have always loved drawing, painting, and creating. My craft bin was always overflowing and my love for stationary was probably a little bit unhealthy. (I was the kid who had stacks of index cards just to doodle on.)
Overall, I am just a gal who loves to make art wherever she can. I find beauty in the most ordinary things, and all I want to do is share that with the world. With my coffee iced or hot, music loud, and camera ready I can't wait to see where 2022 takes us. Let's shoot.
